The Appalachia Skate Kommission aka: ASK, will hold a press conference on Saturday, Aug. 29, at 12:30 p.m. at the fenced skatepark site under the bridge by Payless Supermarket in Appalachia, as part of a two-hour session of BMX, inline skate and skateboard demonstrations on ramps furnished by the American Ramp Company, of Joplin, Mo.

Information released at the press conference will include the details of a very large gift to ASK by several area coal, as well as coal and wind energy corporations to help fund the purchase of permanent ramps to complete the skatepark project.

The skatepark will be the first such facility on publicly owned property in all of far Southwest Virginia . Property for the facility is made available to ASK through the Town of Appalachia .
